Our story.
The Minchin Tea Company is the labour of love of founder
- Jenna Minchin.
Inspired by her British childhood, The Minchin Tea Company marries together the nostalgia of yesterday with a quintessentially contemporary Australian ethos.
Bringing together the best quality organic and natural ingredients from sustainable and ethical sources. All of our tea is hand-blended in small batches, flavoured and packaged in Australia. We are sustainably focused using small Australian owned manufacturers for our tea packaging (which is all sustainable too). Our tea is packed air tight bio-degradable - d2w oxo-bio - wrapping for freshness and our cylinders are perfect tea canisters which you can reuse time and time again, they’re also kerbside recyclable!
With a passion for mixology and a love of vintage aesthetics, Jenna set out to start The Minchin Tea Company to exclusively supply The Secret Jungle Cairns - her main business - as she wanted customers to experience her unique mixes and flavour combinations as take home tea blends that they could enjoy long after they had left The Secret Jungle. However The Minchin Tea Company has grown into a beautiful expression of passion, and creative endeavour which keeps expanding outwards into the future.
“Starting The Minchin Tea Company has brought me closer to my heritage in a way I wasn’t expecting it to. I have long been a lover of good quality British tea - perhaps its the consequence of immigrating twice as a teenager (first to NZ in 2006 and secondly to Australia in 2013) I gravitate towards tea as a means to conquer homesickness. My grandparents used to take my sisters and I for Sunday afternoon drives through the West Norfolk countryside - with a flask of hot, sweet, milky tea and a packet of custard cream biscuits, they would park the car and let us sit with the boot open - legs dangling - looking out over fields of wildflowers whilst listening to elaborate stories of fairies, big cats and other creatures that were said to roam the English countryside.”
